Sueca International Valencian Paella Contest

The Sueca International Valencian Paella Competition is one of the most prestigious events dedicated to Valencian paella. Sueca is a town in the Valencian Community, in Spain, known for its tradition in the preparation of this dish and especially for its location in the middle of the L'Albufera de Valencia natural park as it is the main producer of Valencian rice.

This contest, already held since 1961, is the longest-running contest in Spain and its 62nd edition will be held in 2023. It is a contest that is held annually and consists of making Valencian paellas, between 30 and 40 contestants from all over the world. compete for the prestigious recognition of making the best paella in the world.

To participate in this contest you must be a professional cook and of legal age and you must prepare a paella for 15 people, participation normally comes through two ways, on the one hand winning some of the multiple semifinals held around the world ( Tokyo, Copenhagen) or simply by invitation from the organization, our recommendation to participate is to contact the organization by sending a presentation of the company together with the reasons why you want to compete, we leave you the link for the contact form by clicking here.  

The organizers of the contest will provide each chef and his companion with a 70 cm paella, un trébede, firewood and all the necessary ingredients to cook the Valencian paella with the traditional recipe of sueca.

•Pre-registration open from August 8 to 14

•From August 9 to 13, those selected will be notified

•The contest is held on September 10

World Paella Day 

Every year, World Paella Day is celebrated every September 20, in 2023 it is its fourth edition, in this paella contest, chefs from all over the world come together to compete to create the best paella recipe by participating in this prestigious rice contest.

To participate you must fill out the contact form, send a photo and a video in which you explain why you want to participate in the IV paella contest, your professional history and the country you represent, among all the participants the organization chooses the 10 finalists .

On the day of the competition, the 10 finalist chefs will defend their country with their paella, each participant faces directly another participant in a similar way to a semifinal (face to face), the 5 resulting finalists compete for the top 3 positions in this recognized contest. The recipes of the participants are at the free choice of each contestant, so the creativity / combination of the elements is always a value to take into account.

The winner will receive the world paella day trophy, the second and third place will receive a prize as well while all the finalists will get an event jacket and a finalist certificate.

This day serves as recognition of the best-known dish of Spanish gastronomy and Valencians can share our tasty dish with the rest of the world and thus celebrate the taste of paella together with other countries.

This 2023 registration dates have been from May 5 to 30 and the event is always held on September 20.

Fideua Gandía 

This international contest consists of the realization of the original recipe for the fideuà de Gandía, according to local fishermen, this dish has its origin in the need that arose coincidentally due to the lack of rice that caused the noodle to be used as a substitute by accident.

In this event, chefs from all over the globe gather on the beaches of Gandía to try to make the best fideua in the world.

It is mandatory to make the fideua with the ingredients that appear on the contest website, competing with paellas of 10 servings of Fideua on this same website you can find the rules of the contest.

The three best chefs will be awarded the diploma of best promise to the Gandía fideua.

In this contest there are two categories and it is mandatory to participate in both categories, both in the Fideua and the orange dessert.

This 2023 registrations were open from February 6 to 20 and the event was held on June 8.

Master paella Experience

From Original Paella we also offer you our contest service called "Master Paella Experience".

As you already know, paella contests are a "TeamBuilding" activity, since they are carried out so that workers can promote their relationship outside the offices. In this contest, groups are formed from 6 to 10 people to later compete and make the best original Valencian paella, at the end, the participants will be able to eat their paella in a deserved way for this work.

The teams will choose the ingredients from the Original Paella shop, or they will be given the ingredients prepared at their stalls.

There will be a monitor for every 5 participating teams who will give recommendations and correct errors.
